Established in 1956 as a K-8 school by Greek-Americans who had recently settled in Astoria, our school grew to graduate its first high school senior class in 1979. Accredited by the NY State Department of Education (Board of Regents) and the Ministry of Education of Greece. The high school provides a college preparatory education to its students while also promoting Christian values of service and charity to the community. The average class size is approximately 15-20 students allowing for individualized and personalized attention by the faculty. In addition, tuition is considered one of the most affordable in the tri-state area and qualifying students may receive merit and athletic scholarships. Our graduates are accepted to some of the finest colleges/universities in the world including: NYU, Fordham, Macaulay Honors (CUNY), SUNY, Cornell, Columbia and Yale. Recently, Saint Demetrios High School was ranked one of the top private schools in NYC by Niche.com for the academic excellence shown by its students on the college readiness scale.
