Our Kindergarten students develop a strong foundation concepts of reading, writing, math, and shapes. Our reading curriculum focuses largely on mastering letters, sounds and words. The students by the end of the year, are able to master high frequency sight words, read at reasonable level, and write a simple sentence. In addition, we work on early phases of basic story comprehension to build confidence and public speaking skills within a classroom setting. With math our instruction utilizes hand on manipulatives like snap cubes for visual numeral learning and begin to learn the basics of addition and subtraction. Science and Social studies curriculum is based on themes that allow the students to explore the world around them.
Kindergarten students attend a variety of enrichment classes each week including Physical Education, Greek language, Music, Greek Dance, Technology, Art, and Religion.
