Ms. Metaxia

Hi!  Welcome to Kindergarten Greek!  I look forward to a great year with you!

My name is Metaxia Liza and I teach Kindergarten Greek at St. Demetrios Greek-American School of Astoria, NY. This is my 6th year in the school and my 20th as a teacher, in general. I studied Early Childhood Education Science in the National & Kapodistrian University of Athens, Greece.  In 2013 I came to NY with my family, being transferred from the Greek Ministry of Education, Research and Religious Affairs to teach Greek in NY. I was born in Kastanitsa, Arcadia, a small, beautiful village in the mountain of Parnon and raised in Sparta, which I proudly consider as my second home.  My favorite quote is ''Don't forget who you are and where you come from'' by F. Scott Fitzgerald, and this is exactly what I teach my students everyday along with the Greek language.
