Mrs. Anna

Welcome to the Early Childhood Class.  I am your child's teacher, Ms. Anna and I am joined daily by my assistant, Ms. Vaso.

Your child is accustomed to being surrounded by their parents and siblings and school is the first time your child is spending a large portion of their day away from their most loved people.  I don't take that for granted. In addition to being engaged in your child's well being, I take every day as a new day to help your child step up and learn more. This magical time in your naturally curious little ones life is full of cognitive, emotional and physical growth which sets the foundation for later learning and social relationships.

I have worked at Saint Demetrios for the past year and a half as an Early Childhood teacher following six months as a Teaching Assistant in a PreSchool Classroom. Prior to that I had worked for four years for the Early Childhood Education Department of Whitestone's Greek Orthodox School, Holy Cross.  I hold a Bachelor Degree in Business Management combined with a high concentration in the Social Sciences.  Ten years ago, armed with 25 years of career experience in the private sector as an Administrator in the field of Real Estate and Advertising, I advanced to the interview stage for NYC Fellows for high school teacher applicants.  After this experience I made the decision to concentrate my efforts in furthering my acadmic career in the field of Elementary Education.  Upon completing undergraduate and graduate course work in Elementary Literature, Teaching the Exceptional Child, and Number Systems, I gained experience formating multi-subject lesson plans around various genres of children's literature and lesson plans on Elementary Education mathematical concepts.  I have completed my field experience requirement of course ELE 534 from Five Towns College at PS 117 and hold various certifications in classroom management, health, safety, and child abuse identification.  I entered the field of Early Education Instruction with one goal in mind, with my love for learning as my motivation, to do my best for my students.

Respectfully,

Anna Loizides
