Mrs. Betsy Sideris

Assistant Principal, St Demetrios Elementary School

As the Assistant Principal of the Elementary School, it gives me great pleasure to welcome you to our St. Demetrios family. Our family consists of many different components, each important in their own way. A quality education is the result of a close working partnership and collaboration between administrators, teachers, parents, and students. We are very fortunate to have a New York Certified staff, many with advanced degrees dedicated not only to their career, but to your child, offering the curriculum material in such creative lesson plans that engage students and enhance their love for learning.

I have been with the Saint Demetrios School system for thirty-four years.  It is indeed an honor and a privilege that many of my former students have chosen to return to their academic roots, some as teachers and others to enroll their own children in our school. This reinforces their solid foundation and fond memories, which in return have perpetuated the traditions and success of our thriving community.

On a personal note, my husband, Gary and I have been blessed with two accomplished children, Amalea and Anthony, who I am proud to say are both alumni of the St Demetrios School system. Throughout my years at St Demetrios I have played many roles.  I taught in the Middle School for 15 years (4th, 5th, and 6thgrade), was Middle School Coordinator (5 years), and  PTA President for four years.  I find it very important to give back to the community that has given us a second home, therefore, as a family we have volunteered our time to coaching, the youth programs, festival, and coordinating fundraisers such as the annual Golf Outing.

With God’s blessing I look forward to continuing to serve the Saint Demetrios community as an educator and as a volunteer.
