Presentation of icons to Honors Students
Dec 12th, 2021
As has become tradition at Saint Demetrios High School, one honors student from every grade (9-12) is Blessed and Honored to receive a handmade icon of the Virgin Mary and Child crafted by the holy monastic order of Vatopedi, Greece. Several years ago members of the Vatopedi monastery visited our school and met with our students and teachers, promising that they will be sending icons to Honors students.
This year a brief presentation was made at the end of Divine Liturgy on Sunday, December 12, 2021-the Feast Day of Saint Spyridon. The honors students for the academic year 2020-2021 were:
- Evangelia Krampis (Class of 2021)
- Evgenia Katehis (Class of 2022)
- Ariadne Raptis (Class of 2023)
- Frida Kasimis (Class of 2024)
The parents of the honorees along with parishioners at Saint Demetrios Cathedral joined Father Nektarios, Mr. Papamicael (School Board Chairman), Mr. Chrisanthopoulos (parish council President), Ms. Karagiorgos (assistant principal of high school), and Ms. Tsementzi (senior Greek instructor) in congratulating the honorees on their academic achievements and commitment to the community.
