Mila Lyssikatos, a 7th grade Honors student, at Saint Demetrios School (Astoria, New York) will be competing in the ScholarSkills NYC Spelling Bee, the regional division of the National Scripps Spelling Bee. The competition will take place at Hunter College High School on March 15, 2022.
Ms. Lyssikatos was a winner at the school spelling bee, a second runner up at the Greek Orthodox Archdiocesan Spelling Bee held in January, and then successfully participated in the online remote spelling contest in February hosted by Scholar Skills- where she ranked in the top 30 spellers- amongst private parochial and public school students throughout New York City.
Mila is not only an exceptional academic student but also a young lady who is involved in extracurricular activities at Saint Demetrios and in the community. She is a member of the Saint Demetrios Traditional Greek Dance Troupe, has danced with the Astoria Dance Center for three years, and is also engaged in the Fine Arts.
