School Life

Get Involved. Remain Active. Interact With One Another.

A student’s school years are about academic preparation, but they are also a time to learn more about themselves, to explore interests, to develop social skills and to gain in self-confidence. Students acquire positive values and attitudes that they will take with them into their adult life.

Co-curricular activities are an integral and valuable part of a student’s school experience, and Saint Demetrios Prep is committed to sponsoring a wide variety of such activities. We are proud to say that more than 95 percent of our students participate in at least one club, activity, or sport and most participate in more.

While difficult to measure, the educational value of co-curricular participation is extensive. Numerous studies have shown that students who are actively engaged in sports and fine arts, or clubs and organizations are also more likely to have heightened performance in the classroom.

Spiritual study and reflection, retreats, liturgies and prayer services are another aspect of campus life at Saint Demetrios. Every student also must complete a minimum of 100 hours of service before graduation. Both components of the SD Prep’s experience are meant to create awareness and appreciation of the beliefs, traditions, life experiences and circumstances of the range of people who live in our community.
