Community Service

An integral part of our school’s mission, Saint Demetrios Prep is committed to shaping our students into responsible members of society. Service learning is at the heart of this charge.

Service projects provide our students with valuable life lessons that cannot always be taught in a classroom. Through these projects, students develop an understanding of Houston’s diverse cultures and communities and learn more about our city’s social issues and their root causes.

Saint Demetrios Prep hosts a variety of community service projects each year, all developmentally and age-appropriate. All of our community service projects begin with an educational component so that our students learn why the work is important and who it is serving, cultivating a deeper empathy and understanding of our greater community and its needs.
