X Principal’s Message

Welcome! There is a place here in the St. Demetrios community for you – whether you are a future student or past alumni.

It has been my distinct pleasure to serve as the headmaster of St. Demetrios for over 15 years.

The process of choosing a school for your child is a challenging and difficult one. As you begin this process of selectivity, I hope you will consider St. Demetrios Greek-American Schools of Astoria.

On a visit to our elementary, middle or high school, you will surely notice many special things – the heartfelt and friendly atmosphere, our extraordinary students, our committed staff, our supportive parents and the meaningful, hands-on learning taking place. We are very proud of our accomplishments and look forward to many more!

After graduation, our talented students have been accepted to the finest Universities. Our alumni include some of the best doctors, attorneys, public servants, and academics, as well as leading businesspeople around the country.

These achievements do not tell the whole story about St. Demetrios. The people of Saint Demetrios—the students, the staff, the clergy, the alumni, and the friends—form the true narrative. St. Demetrios is a community unique in education.

For 60 years St. Demetrios has been setting a standard for education in the New York City area. We are proud to provide an outstanding educational opportunity for our students in a nurturing, faith embedded community and we look forward to the opportunity to share it with you.

For those of you who would like to learn more about our school, I encourage you to use this website as a multi-faceted invitation to view the many wonderful aspects of what our school has to offer. You will find us at the leading edge of programs, resources and technology designed to accommodate the diversity of learners that enter our door. Please call us at (718) 728-1754, to meet the individuals who make St Demetrios such a special place. See for yourself why Saint Demetrios is different and why we are “Leaders in Learning”.

Come join our family!

Respectfully,

Mr. Anastasios Koularmanis
