Greetings to all!
It is with great excitement that I greet you as the principal of the St. Demetrios School of Astoria. There is no other school like this in New York. Our school has two campuses in Astoria for students ranging from preschool through the 12th grade. Walking through our halls, you’ll hear preschoolers singing in Greek, third graders preparing for state exams, middle schoolers engaged in fierce basketball matches, and our high schoolers hard at work in the science lab and actively engaged in the college planning process.
Students in all grades are immersed in a rigorous academic curriculum while also learning about the Orthodox Christian faith and how to speak, read, and write Greek. At St. Demetrios School, every student is supported and encouraged to strive for excellence in every way.
My philosophy of education is similar to my philosophy of life. It begins by respecting the worth and dignity of every person in the school. I believe that all students can learn and flourish within the confines of a classroom that is dedicated to growth and engagement. We only get one chance at educating our students, therefore time is a precious commodity and should never be wasted.
We are surrounded by so many wonderful educators and professionals, each of whom cares deeply for the students who we all serve. Our students are inquisitive, respectful, and hard working, to name a few of the many standout traits that they exhibit daily. It is a pleasure to be here every day!
Thank you for entrusting the education of your children to our school.
